Collision Repair can be a little tricky for the total auto body beginner. Some of the techniqies will require automotive frame machines that use pneumatic hydraulic pumps that have thousands of pounds of pressure that pull frames and move body parts that would not be able to be moved any other way.
With that said. Frame machines can cost from $899.99 - $20,000 plus. If you're serious do-it-yourselfer... They have one called the "STICK" or also known as the "10 Ton Champ" Which I REALLY recommend because of the size and shear durability, and ease of use.
This to me is MORE than enough to pull out any frame damage big or small. The only difference with this and the $20,000 ones is that you can LOCK the entire car down on all 4-6 points. But you can locl down 3 points with the optional side mount.
Again a really great machine that will fit in your car garage, fit in a small corner and do MOST if not ALL of your projects. I will add an image of this machine soon! "we currently do not have videos working on frame machines in the VIP COURSE, but we wil be adding them soon in the future.
Rust Repair is usually looked upon as a pain in the butt. But... if you know what you're doing it can be fun and you can actually learn a lot.
Like I say your repair strategie always depends on your end goal. Do you want to do a "El Cheapo Job?" or, do you want to do it right?
You may want to do a slap on ...grind and fill technique and not worry about the rust coming back in 6 months to a year because you are selling the vehicle. (I've had slap on bondo jobs last for years!) but I like to say, or tell the customer that you have 6-12 months before it comes back.
It all depends on the weather conditions location etc... around windows may come back sooner because of water and moisture getting in.
The Sheet Metal Job. We also have videos within the VIP Course that show you exactly how to spot weld with sheet metal to get professional looking job done with the spot welder. Not to mention we also show you the El Cheapo way so you can bang out the job and get it out the door if you wish.
Please click on the links above for more information on the topics that I just touched on.
Enjoy!
